Last
weekend was quite eventful for me. I set the date, November 24 @ 2:30, to have my first hair
education class called” Learning and Luving Your Hair” and I also attended two
natural hair events. One was held by a Twin Cities group called Curly Girls around the World and the other was a monthly meet-up by Kinky Curly in the Twin Cities. Both events were great and taught me a thing or two about myself.

Being
a business owner is so rewarding but there is much more to it than people
think. And no, in this case, I’m not talking about work load. I’m talking about
confidence, trust or faith in a person or thing. As we enter different stages
in life/business, we are required to do more, and that can surface different
emotions in us. For me its fear!!!!! No, not the kind of fear that you’re
thinking about, I’m talking about fear of getting outside of your comfort zone.
Fear of doing something new and failing. This is when confidence comes into “play”.
Often times we carry ourselves with
admirable confidence but our confidence is at a high level because we are doing
things that are not new to us and that’s not confidence at all. True confidence allows your do deal with your
fear by willingly taking on new challenges and conquering giants like never
before. It changes your talk, your walk, and your heart.
Early
last weekend, I began questioning my confidence. All I needed to do was to show
up to both events and hand out informational fliers for my upcoming class but that
was easier said than done. So many questions came to mind. Would I be bugging
people? , would people be interested in my class?, would people want to talk to
me or even hear what I have to say? But I knew that staying “safe” would result in
me and my business not reaching full potential
At
the end of the day, I had to tell myself that if I do not step out of my
comfort zone, every situation that I have right now is going to stay the same,
be it good or bad. Who doesn't want a life that progresses? Who doesn't want to
discover greater potential within themselves? I do and regardless of how much
confidence was gained, I was able to step up to fear and elbow it out of the
way. I was able to pass out more than fifty fliers at both events and will be
passing more out every weekend until
November 24th.
